Mercatus looks at mandatory spending levels

This graphic should give even the most ardent supporter of expanded government spending pause.

Mandatory spending is set to eat up 82% of the federal budget in the next few decades. Discretionary spending will (of course) then shrink to only 18%.

If we don’t get this under control immediately, we’re in for a massive, system-wide collapse.
